Space and Place 2018

Group Exhibition” Now That’s What I Call A Video Art” Video Installation- Projection-Mapping, Columbia College Chicago, Chicago, IL, 2018
In Between Time and Space refers to our memories that are shaped in different times and different spaces and the relation of geographical space and the concept of time with our life. This project is based on the natural phenomena of the Yellowstone National Park. Inspired by the form of the hot spring and the texture of the volcanic land, I am creating a hole in a circle shape and encouraging the audience to gather around it to make an intimate space. This project is part of my series of work about attachment to a place. I used Isadora software for projection mapping on drawings. Photo credit: Jonathan Michael Castillo
Video Installation, MFA Thesis Show, Glass Curtain Gallery, Columbia College Chicago, Chicago, IL 2018
Attachment to Place is a video installation that explores my relationship with the U.S. and compares it to my relationship with my homeland (Iran). It incorporates drawings, projection-mapped videos, and collections of found objects. Using the psychological concept of Place Attachment, I will explore protected geological and historical sites in my native Iran and American national parks as a metaphor for protecting memory and identity.
